Herman Cain, Republican candidate for president, was the featured guest speaker for the July 16 occasion.
Shelby County, widely recognized as the most Republican county in Alabama, is ranked among the most heavily Republican in the nation, and figures significantly in the success of each statewide Republican candidate.
Cain, whose successes in the corporate world included Fortune 500 companies such as Coca-Cola and Pillsbury, became President and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza. He also held a position on the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and hosted a radio talk show, “The Herman Cain Show,” (on Atlanta’s WSB 750 AM/95.5 FM). I had to laugh when I got home to see this photograph, taken by a kind person at the event who offered to take our picture with Mr. Cain. I suppose this is why there is a photographer for the evening...
